Monthly financial statements are the backbone of well-run accounting and finance department and they serve a broad range of purposes for the firm, but they have limitations. Not knowing how you did until the 15th or the 20th of the month is too late. You should know roughly how you did by the 1st or 2nd of the following month, and you should know at least weekly how you are tracking for the current month as well.
